Volunteers who know the plan
A useful service plan gives each person a clear task and room to respond.
23 October 2026 · ENPrepare a realistic service plan
Break the service into practical responsibilities such as welcome, music, readings, technical support and accessibility. Assign people with the appropriate role and explain what preparation is needed.
Allow a clear response
An assignment should not be treated as accepted until the person confirms through the available workflow. Provide a way to decline or explain a conflict. Review unfilled roles early enough to find another volunteer.
Close the loop
After the service, record what needs following up and recognise the team’s contribution. Keep sensitive pastoral discussions out of general volunteer notes.
